A Rainbow in July

It takes both the sun and the rain to make a beautiful rainbow.

This is a short story and it’s true. It is 9:30 pm on the eve of printing the August issue of the Town Crier. I have put in a very long day (14 straight hours) to finish the paper in time to prep the files and upload them to the printer’s server. I feel pretty good about this issue except for one spot. This spot actually. I had nothing to fill it with. I searched and searched and the best I came up with was a generic article on “Green Travel.” Something about being environmentally responsible when on vacation. Oh well, it filled the hole but not in a way I was proud of. Just as I was about to turn the computer off, my husband Chris called me to come outside. The photos below are what he wanted to show me. Of course I knew what I was being called to do… to share this remarkable double rainbow with each of you. As the sky shifted hue, the rainbows did, too.
