FairviewStrong.org Update

In April, FairviewStrong.org (FSO) was spotlighted on WLOS. Phil Troyer and Jenny Brunet, two of the nonprofit’s co-founders, showcased the first of the new homes the group is donating to families in Fairview who lost their houses during the storm.

Also in April, two other co-founders, Joanne Winkler and Cory Wall, spoke at a fundraising event in Charleston, SC. The group that they there were speaking to agreed to match all donations up to $50,000, and FSO met that goal. Amazing!

Donating money is still the best way to support local families in need of housing. Send a link to the website above to your family and friends who live outside of our area. We need all the support we can get. If you’re looking for others ways to help, you can:

• Donate garden tools, seeds, plants and trees. (Many in Fairview lost entire gardens and groves they spent years cultivating. One couple lost 80 fruit trees!)

• Help repair a retaining wall for a homeowner’s only access to their basement.

• Volunteer the use of your small equipment to help move debris.

If you can help with any of these things, please reach out to [email protected].
